Product Specific Information For positive control, use Human heart mitochondria. This antibody gave a positive result in IHC in the following FFPE tissue:

Human normal colon. In Flow Cytometry, this antibody gave a positive signal in methanol fixed/Tween permeabilised HEK293

cells.

Samples that are to be used in Western blotting with this antibody should NOT be boiled before loading onto the gel. Boiling

of the sample will cause a loss of signal in Western blotting.

In Western blot applications, this antibody detects a band at approximately 40 kDa (predicted MW: 57 kDa).

Background/Target Information Cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is the terminal enzyme of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. It is a multi-subunit enzyme complex

that couples the transfer of electrons from cytochrome c to molecular oxygen and contributes to a proton electrochemical gradient

across the inner mitochondrial membrane. The complex consists of 13 mitochondrial- and nuclear-encoded subunits. The functions

of the nuclear-encoded subunits are unknown but they may play a role in the regulation and assembly of the complex. COX4 (COX4I1)

is one of the nuclear-coded polypeptide chains of cytochrome c oxidase, the terminal oxidase in mitochondrial electron transport.
